Forecepts is a Singapore-based software development company. Founded in 2003 by 2 programmers in a warehouse attic, we’ve since grown into an agile and dynamic 20+ member team, with an extension in Shenzhen. With over 10 years of experience in the internet and software industry, we are well positioned to bring to our clients well thought solutions for their businesses.
We are committed in our mission and purpose to support and nurture our clients in the growth of their businesses through the use of technology, i.e. web and mobile applications, and software systems. We do not serve industry niches or market a suite of ready-made products. We specialise in the custom development and integration of software, in solving complex business processes, that may not be solved directly with off-the-shelf products.

Great software is not about the programming
It’s about understanding business needs and collaboration with our clients. Working with clients is a lot like dating. While we take the time to discover our clients’ business and challenges, our clients need to take time too, to understand how a software solution is being built. Business understanding drives development here. Sometimes, we have to turn our clients away after we help them realise their real needs.

Every business is different, no one-size-fits-all
There will be common solutions to solve common problems.But at some point, every business is different, with its own set of processes and unique challenges. We don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” solution and we don’t evangelise a specific platform. We help our partners make informed decisions and create custom solutions that fit within their objectives and budget.
We don’t outsource, we’re not a knock-off business
Offshore development is a big and growing marketing in our industry, and it’s no doubt that the alternative labour can help us cut costs and meet deadlines. But we have a strong stance on not outsourcing. When we create a relationship with a client, we win their business and trust – and it’s not a trust we take lightly. It’s important that our clients feel secure, that they know they are in good hands, our hands. A “no out-source” model allows us to have control and confidence in our work, as much as our clients should have in their projects with us. When you hire us, you hire us.

You can’t shape the future with a software from the past
Business strategy, needs and priorities, will change over time. Upon project completion, regular review, maintenance and enhancements are required for your application to remain relevant and useful. In other words, don’t expect your project to end upon sign-off, instead it should have a route map for continuous evaluation and growth, just like your business. To achieve optimal results, tools need sharpening.

Good code and great teamwork doesn’t happen by accident. At Forecepts, we do not divide our people by departments and roles like most organisations do. Instead, our people are banded into small teams, each with a good mix of skills that are required to deliver a project. Each team is like a “mini Forecepts” that operates independently on its own but is aligned with the organisation’s mission and goals.
Good code and great teamwork doesn’t happen by accident.
We practise a distributed leadership model, our teams consists of no managers but developers who are nominated and elected as leaders by their peers. We empower our programmers to set company standards on development tools because they are the closest to the ground on emerging technology.
There are no job titles or departments … At Forecepts, it is everyone’s responsibility to make things happen and to solve problems for our clients.
Team members negotiate responsibilities with their peers, and each individual is responsible for acquiring the tools needed to do his or her work. We promote a culture of active learning and sharing in our organisation through a consistent initiate called “Pow Wow”. Pow Wow is organised by a rostered team and conducted at the company level, once every month. At Pow Wow, work pauses for half a day in the morning, while co-workers gather in the office to have a hearty breakfast together. Then prepared speakers from the teams take turn to present on a variety of topics, about:
- emerging technologies and trends that are relevant to our organisation and clients
- how to make our work better with best practices, standardisation and tools
- new ideas and thoughts gained from external meetups, conferences and books
- success case studies and also project mistakes, and how everyone can learn from it
- themselves; a slice of their own personal life, so we all know one another better
Meet the Team
Our people prefer not to be in the limelight and are most comfortable working behind the scenes. But sometimes people want to know who we are.
Friends come and go. We are just as happy and proud of our ex-colleagues who has moved on to new things, as we are of the remarkable people currently on our team. Our colleagues and alumni maintain close ties, we invite our alumni back for parties and gatherings. For many of us, the connections last well after our friends leave the organisation. Some old friends even come back to consult with us on various projects in their new ventures.
